Wounded Warriors Family Support, On the behalf of the Shive family I would like to express my sincere gratitude for a most wonderful and peaceful experience on Skyline Drive.

As you are aware, my family of six was blessed through your foundation to; travel, eat, and stay for five nights all expenses paid. There’s no other way we could have afforded this vacation. You took all the pressure off of us financially and we were able to just relax and enjoy the spectacular views, wildlife, and natural beauty and do all of this together as a family!

I’ll never forget staying up in to the early morning hours with my son after the rest of my family retired for the evening. The lights were shining in the quaint town of Luray in the valley below with low clouds like mist, rolling onto us at an elevation of 4,000 feet with the moon and stars above us brilliantly on display.

In this magical setting my son and I really communicated for the first time in years. Thankfully, a big step in the right direction was initiated here at Skyland Resort. This also was a huge step for me and a point I choose to remember for my own healing as I seek to move on from issues from my deployment.

The wildlife was incredible! You will see in the pictures some of the wildlife we saw. Black bears, deer, turkey, etc…. The food and service was outstanding! I will never forget what I saw, learned and experienced during my stay at Skyland Resort and I will never forget how Wounded Warriors Family Support, supported this wonderful opportunity for myself and family.

In closing, each one of my children would like to thank you for all that you did for us. Memories have been created that will last a lifetime. Thank you for investing in the healing of our family.
